Question Airbag service light

Hi, Anybody ever get a light on dash that says "Service Airbag"
we have a 2009 HHR with just over 20K miles, any help with this is good. Thanks Bill ....... how would you service an airbag that hasn't been used, who thinks up this stuff.

Take it to your dealer or a qualified service tech A.S.A.P.

That light means there is a fault in the SRS/Airbag system that may prevent it properly functioning in an accident.

There are no user serviceable parts in the SRS system, and if you don't know exactly what you're doing, you can be killed or seriously injured.

Since you have only 20K on the clock, you should still be covered under warranty, get it to your dealer tomorrow.

843de is correct. You will want to get the vehicle into the Chevrolet dealership to have the ASE technicians service this system.

If there's no chevy dealer in town, I'd call the independent shops and see if any of them are comfortable and experienced working on air bag issues.

Please, feel free to take your HHR to your closest General Motors dealership.

There is a recall for the airbag light. They need to replace connections under the drivers seat. I think it is soldered item. Mine already failed and repaired at no cost.
