Alternator replaced now no cold air blowing from a/c
Alternator replaced now no cold air blowing from a/c
Starter was replaced. Less than a year from that, car wont start. They tell me I need a starter. Again? I'm thinking wth. Why do i need another one??
OK so paid for another starter. After that, the car was making a high pitched noise when giving it gas. Kinda like what a turbo charger sounds like. What could that be?
Now 8 months later, My car is intermittently not holding a charge. (Battery is a year and half old but they said its no good). Ok. Buy a new battery that morning. Drive 50 hwy miles. Park. Started the car and drive 4 blocks and EVERYTHING shuts off. No power steering, no engine, a/c stops. Like someone flicked the OFF switch. I coast to a stop. Call RSA and it won't jump. They Tested this brand new battery and basically said its bad.
Have it towed. The repair place called to say i need a new battery. that it wont hold a charge long enough to check anything but it was prob the alternator. I Explained the battery was 4-5 hours old. Didnt matter, i Ended up bringing them a brand new battery myself. I'm confused but whatever.....
Apparently it was the alternator. Replaced it. And drive away and my frickin A/C is not blowing cold now. It was working fine up until when the car died. Never had a problem with it.
Common sense would say an alternator has nothing to do with HOW COLD THE AIR IS that is blowing from the vents. Or does it? Go back to repair place. They said a/c working just fine during their test run. Checked freon. Said it could be compressor or this or that. All i know is, It just seems strange the A/C (temp) and the alternator both quit at the same time. Maybe this is a normal thing. I dont know. But i cant buy a new a/c after the alternator. I'm still paying off the 2nd starter. This is my only car. It was 111° today. Getting Tough without cold air. I have a 2007 HHR LT 2.2 (1 owner-ME!) Don't remember the package name but has premium sound, sparkle paint , chrome mirrors all power and a Wing, can't forget the wing!. It's been an absolute amazingly wonderful car. I put every 150,000 miles on this car. I love this car. Sorry for the long post. I was trying to explain everything I could think of. I don't know if I'm being taken advantage of or having some bad luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanks you

Well, the alternator and AC compressor are right next to each other and driven by the same belt, take it back to the mechanic. Or, maybe the heat knob got turned to full red.
There is a wire that carries voltage from the alternator to the battery via the starter. There might be a fusible link between the starter and the alternator or, a loose wire. That could be the battery/alternator problem along with clown mechanics that should have checked.
