ambient air temperature sensor

hi guys,
2 temperature sensors were found on the right side of the muzzle under the bumper,
#1 seems to be broken / #2 is new,
QUESTION: are these really outside air temperature sensors? and why are there two of them?

Evidently someone splice4d a new one in instead of just replacing the bad one.
Maybe, one is C and one is F; what does the reading on your dashboard say?
Looks more like a splice to me.

the temperature outside is measured incorrectly
I have had this problem for many years, it is not a critical indicator, so I did not strive for urgent correction - but now I have come to this question. And while the bumper is removed, it is a good time to deal with this problem.
The diagram shows the "native" sensor, I can see it with my own eyes (No. 2). But who is this No. 1?

also
I see this image, but I can't enter the site and similar ones (after all, there are sanctions, entry is difficult).
Nevertheless, it is clear that such a sensor also has a right to exist.

My guess is the incorrect reading comes from having both of the sensors wired in. I would just remove the bad one and see if that fixes it.
The sensor is just a diode that is calibrated. All diodes/transistors change their resistance with temperature change, the computer can sense the tiny change in voltage and calculate the temperature.
Yes, the sensor is supposed to be there, but only one. I have no idea why someone would splice instead of replacing the part.

#2 is the real ambient air temperature sensor the #1 isn’t, however it doesn’t appear to be factory . Check back the wire harness to see if it is wired into same harness, before you cut it off

Petty sure this is a splice. I would unplug the dirty one.
