Annoying check engine light
2007 lt1 2.2 liter, 77000 miles. been dealing with a cylinder 3 misfire for past 10000 miles after replacing plugs and coil pack the lil yellow engine light still comes back! talked to a local chevy service manager which lead to no known tsb but offered i bring it in when the light is on for a deep scan cause he seemed to mention the valve guide being the problem but being my wife and i are struggling one one income currently, im just trying to find out if gm powertrain will cover the diag charges if they find it to be a powertrain warrranty issue....anyone have any insight on this??
well, i spent about 2 hours today at the dealer and came out to the same result as others on here....bad valves causing the misfire cylinder 3 code. so powertrain warranty covering the work just waiting till later in the upcomming week when all the parts come in to basically replace the top half of the engine. i guess this will be added to the lists of repairs that gm had to pay for, im starting to think these problems are reasons why they stopped production of the hhr....
thanks to this site lead me to return it to chevy to diagnose this problem, becaus ei never knew we had a powertrain warranty remaing after the bumper to bumper warranty ran out
thank you everyone on here for all your posts- good & bad

On a good note. Glad you were able to get your problem diagnoised. Also glad that the warranty will cover it.
Ecotec engines are fairly rugged beasts with a decent track record of reliability - 77,000 miles is definitely NOT the time for valves to go bad, but it does happen......
Did you buy the HHR used? Just curious.
The HHR was discontinued because interest in the "retro" market was showing signs of fatigue.
