There is no transmission dipstick because the transmission is a sealed system.

You have a sealed battery, sealed rear wheel bearings, where is the dip stick on your M/T so you can ck it

The clutch recieves fluid from the brake reservoir. All manuals (since the 1980's at least) use a reservoir to check fluid, some just share with other components. Older manuals used "dope" or grease.

Big differance between a tranny and a sealed battery or bearings.

There is no way to manually check the fluid level in the automatic transmission? I hope there is at least a sensor that illuminates a warning lamp when/if fluid gets low, etc.

My HHR is new, I just like to know where all the routine maintenance check items are located. I did notice no apparent need for lube jobs, because the fittings are sealed and no zirk nipples anywhere. That's cool, I guess. Can you tell I'm Old School?

There is a way to check it, but it seems to be a dealer tech only type of thing.

My Malibus also had a sealed automatic transmission, and they were forever showing me my "dirty" transmission fluid that they were willing to flush for only $120. NTFL

Thumbs up

Well, at least I can still do the Old School oil dipstick check every once in a while.

Don't feel too bad, I just spent 10 minutes looking for the power steering fluid cap!
