the past few months my blower for the heater will be fine for days, then it will shut down sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for a whole day??? any suggestions will be appreciated...

Welcome to the site.

Probably gonna be the resistor or the fan motor itself. Hard to say. When it shuts down, try turning it to the Hi setting. If it will come back on, the resistor is most likely going bad.
Another thing to check is to make sure the fuses and relays are fully seated in the fuse boxes. Some HHR's fuses and relays have been known to "wiggle" loose over time and cause issues.

Recently there have been a few problems posted that turned out to be faulty cabin air filters. More like overused, abused, never knew there was one problems. Changing it is in the Owner Manual.

My wife's 2003 Caddy had this issue and since it was right behind the glove box I would wack it with a rubber mallet. I got tired of this and finally dropped the fan assembly out of the car and that was very easy. I pulled the cover off the motor and it was packed with dirt and goop as was the fan blade section. I used a whole can of electrical cleaner getting things clean and it works great now.

If you check the fuses and they are fine then a good inspection and cleaning is probably necessary?

I've gone through 2 replaced blowers & resistors. 1st was because of the leak under the front cowling. Replaced it with an aftermarket blower that sounded like a jet engine. Hated that crappy blower. It also finally died because of a bad connection. You could kick it and it would turn on. Upon pulling the blower, the connector plug was fried. It was quite melted. It cost me a few bucks but they had the plug on hand at a NAPA store. I spliced the new plug in with soldered butt connectors and heat shrink. Found the resistor blown too with the new motor. Replaced that and its been going good for about two years. The second motor is a bit quieter, but still loud on high. BTW, this is a 2006 LT.

patch leaking, but it doesn't look like mine 2011 ever had the butyl patch
