So of course this only happens 50% of the time and now it's at the dealer and they can't find anything wrong. They have a guy driving the car around trying to duplicate the issue. Grrrrr

They still have it!!!!

Well I don't mind as much cause I have their rental/loaner car. But I'm getting a bit aggitated now.

Took em over a day and a half to "duplicate" the problem after they tested the VSS and said everything tested fine. So then my service writter took it... couldn't get it to do it. Then he went to pass a semi... as soon as he hit 80mph... poof... bouncy bouncy. Come under 80 no bouncy. Sometimes if it wasn't bouncing too much, cruise would work, othertimes the motor would surge trying to adjust... and then cruise would kick off.

he got "yelled at" by the service manager for driving a customers car & for doing 80mph +. But he had already talked to me and I told him if I pick it up and they did nothing. It does it that day, I'm bringing it right back. So they pressed on.

I will be calling for another report around lunch today... see WTF. Might stop in though instead...

So it seems to be effected by heat transfer. if you drive the car before it gets too hot, it won't do it. But if you let the heat transfer to the parts it will act up.

With the tech and his laptop hooked to the car with service writer driving. It's none of the 4 wheel speed sensors. It's either the VSS or the elator (can't remember exactly) wheel in the trans (the ring that feeds the info to the VSS like a tone ring).

If it's the VSS, that's easy. If it's the other piece, the trans has to come out.

Ok so the trans guy checked everything and said all was in proper order, but without the ability to test the VSS, they replaced it. Fixed the problem so far.

After 12 days of being without my HHR I was so glad to get it back... 130mph jaunt down the highway filled my veins with joy to have my car back...

Delays due to proving the problem
Delays due to shop being busy
Delays due to weather

Finally back on the road...

When this was happening I remember thinking to myself... that bouncing the needle can't be good for the gauge itself.

Fast forward...

Weird thing yesterday while rolling down the highway just north of lansing, gauge stuck at 70mph, when I sped up from 60 back towards 80... it rose to 90 and stuck.... stayed there, even off/parked for 2 hours, till some point going home from harrison. Then it was slightly up and down around 130-140+ Stuck there.

Then when i got off the highway it started to work again... it was moving when it should but when I was at zero, it was at like 50. So when i was doing 50 it read 100.

Parked it last night at 40mph. Today I came out, and noticed when it did it's needle check it started to fix itself. Turned the key on & off a few times... it fixed itself and is functioning fine now... 0-100mph all fine.

WTF!
