Bow tie removal
I want to remove my bow ties front and rear to paint them body color. I could find no instructions online to do this. I know I could do this without removing them, but want to do this in a controlled environment (I do not have a garage) and I may want to add some extra effects (maybe a thin reflective pinstripe bow tie around the perimeter). Has anyone else removed these?

They are held on with double sided tape. Warm it up with a hair dryer then use dental floss or fishing line to cut it.

Thank-you kind Sir!. I was hoping they were bolted on or attached with some kind of fastener to make for easy positioning when putting them back in place. Maybe I will rethink removing them as I would not want to get them back on only to find they were crooked. Is there a "special" tape, or can I just use any good quality two sided tape if I do decide to remove them?

Oddly enough, 3M makes a tape for just that purpose.

Thanks Don. I'll take a look for it when I pick up new rotors and pads later this week.

Thanks for the pic, Man. Now I know what I'm looking for. Much appreciated, my Friend.

They make an exterior emblem/badge tape too. You want the type with no foam, if you can find it.
Or this stuff from AutoZone: https://contentinfo.autozone.com/zne...03601/image/4/ |
Thanks Oldblue as well.. :twothumbs:

Can confirm. I painted the "base" of the emblems black and the middles to match the car and it looks good. I used those same 3M products. Also get some masking tape to hold the emblems on while the adhesive dries.
