Brake light on dash suddenly on

I have a 2007 HHR. About a week ago the brake light on the dash came on. It is steady, not blinking. I checked the brake fluid in the master cylinder and it was close to full, but I topped it off anyway. No change. Today, I decided to get to the bottom of it. I first tested the brakes by stopping hard on gravel and seeing if all the brakes are working. All is well there. I have a good pedal and all my pads are in great shape (I got 4 new tires a few weeks ago and looked at the brakes at that time). I found the wires that plug into the master cylinder reservoir and unplugged them. This caused a message in my instrument cluster "Brake Fluid". That eliminated that possibility. Then I took my console cover off and disconnected the wire to the switch at the parking brake lever. Still the brake light is on. I also checked for a burned out brake light bulb in back, but they're all fine. What else could make that light come on?

The E-brake isn’t completely off.

Which also means you are likely due for new pads. On Infinitis, the Slip and VDC lights will come on as well. Most people complain that it happens intermittently. It happens when accelerating, deccelerating, or going up or downhill. It's because the fluid gets sloshed around and the sensor doesnt pick it up for a second
