Brake noise

I have a brake noise that seems to come from the rear of the vehicle. 2009 LT. When I let off the brake I consistently hear a chirp. It's sounds like metal on metal. What might it be?

It might be that the brake shoes are worn out.

Many shops, usually the chain stores, will perform free inspections.

It's telling you to take a look at it or take it to someone to check out.

Could be an adjustment, but metal to metal noise usually means new shoes and drums. Will you be doing the work? Or taking it to a brake specialist?

I thought it might be the rear brake shoes or drums. I thought it might possibly be something else too. I can't see anything loose.

I have done the front brakes several times but I have never worked on drum brakes. I will probably take it to a shop for that.

All true, but pay attention to the parking brake too. Maybe it's just the loose cable that makes the "chirp" (if I understand the word "chirp" correctly).
