Broken Sunroof...no replacement available

Just got back from the dealership, hoping they would be able to fix my sunroof...something broke on the tracks and the need to replace to entire assembly....but here's the good part...they don't have any replacement parts...anywhere...they have a part number...but it hasn't been made yet...

Luckily...it is stuck in the closed position.

Has anyone else had problems with their sunroof?

The HHRs have sunroofs? I'm going back to my dealer!

(Sorry that I'm no help, but I didn't know sunroofs were available.)

I've not had a problem and I don't use it a lot, but I will be going in as on the drivers side of the car the moonroof appears to be dragging on something and its starting to shred the rubber edging on the glass panel facing up. Hasn't scratched the glass and it hasn't chewed up the rubber badly but you can see it is only a matter of time.

Shouldn't the "Das Burban" have a periscope? Nice selection of Chevy hardware!

We have the moonroof, but hardly use it.

I don't know if you want to go through this....

But, just after taking delivery of my HHR, in April, I started experiencing some problems with the Sun Roof hanging up and making a loud thumping noise. Had it in twice...dealer didn't fix it and had to order a COMPLETE new window system. While I was waiting for the parts delivery, a friend and I played with it and discovered part of the track was bent...we repaired it and it has worked correctly since then. The dealer called and said the parts were in..I postponed because I was going on vacation. They may still have the parts.... Brown & Brown Chevrolet, Mesa, AZ.

If I could open the sunroof...I would look at the tracks...but I can't even get it open enough to see where the problem is...

I'm just saying they had parts if you want your dealer to contact them.

I just got off the phone with GM Customer Assistance...and they assigned it to another department to research and they will call me back tomorrow...I will let them know about the possibility of the part being available in Mesa and see what they will do...Thanks for the info..

You would think so, but there are some low bridges that it barely fits under now that I have no choice and have to drive under.

LOL, what a runaround they are giving you...they have a ton of replacement parts, who are they kidding...every time they make a new HHR with a sunroof where to they think it comes from? All they have to do is find in their own stock, or a near by dealers stock, an HHR which has a sunroof..and they then have a part!! My dealer has done this for me in the past..HE (the car in stock) waits for the part, not ME the customer with the broken car.

They are selling. They don't want to stop making the cars is the problem. Those parts are heading straight to the assembly plant!
