bucking and surging while stopped

bucking and surging while stopped
It happened to me today, now I'm a believer.
Driving in city traffic the car started bucking and surging, especially while stopped, got a little better in neutral. No CEL. Got all better after I parked it then restarted.
I had my code reader in the car! After solving the bluetooth problems, I found a "Pending" code P2270. This is the kind of code that takes consecutive occurances to set the CEL.
I went to http://www.obd-codes.com/p2270 and found that it is likely my new #2 O2 sensor showing it's butt in some way or one of the other thing I did to fix the P0420 I had a few months back.
I will be underneath the car this weekend anyway, add another thing to do. SeaFoam is still on sale.

Dang eh donbrew!!!! I had a similar problem a few years ago with a high mileage Avenger - I gave the contact down near the sensor a good cleaning (even though it didn't look that bad) - and the problem cleared and never came back.
Good on you for using a variation on a search tool by using the obd-codes site, all by yourself.

Geez Don, I think it's acting out wanting attention, and considering how many miles you rack up I can't imagine it feeling neglected.
If we can get that site to agree to a "Perma-Link" setup, I'd like to have it on the homepage.

If you put your Pxxxx code into Google that is usually the first link. They are pretty good, but not gospel. For instance they say if you have a P0420 to just buy a new Cat. As always try more than one site, this is the internets!
Still no CEL and no re occurrence, after another 300 miles. I'm thinking it has something to do with short acceleration then sudden decel, I noticed that the evap pressure & absolute manifold pressure take a dive at the same time the #2 O2 sensor does, maybe the ECM has an error built in for a duration?

Well it popped back up today. I cleared it and setup a real time reading on the O2 sensors. Both are acting nominal.
No bucking and surging this time.
This morning it came on right after I got gas, I am thinking gas cap or the canister vent. I already flipped the seal on the gas cap over.

I couldn't find any leaks.
Installed a new #1 O2 Sensor to match the new #2 O2 Sensor I installed a couple of months ago. Both of them are after-market, so that may be the problem. Loosed the wiring harness to the #2 sensor because it might have been bending too tight.
The new #1 sensor does have a less jagged wave form, and the #2 now seems a bit calmer.
Fingers crossed.

My wife has had somthing similar happen a couple of times. The last time she had just pulled out of a parkingf lot and it kicked in, the esc light came on. She pulled over turned the car off and re started it and everything was OK. The 09 has real low milage 21,000 miles. In 4 years it has happemed about 3 or 4 times. The first time at about 10,000 miles. We figuer it is a glitch in the program that takes a unique set of inputs to trigger it.
