A/C control knobs not activating
A/C control knobs not activating
So I've recently acquired a few little quirky problems with my HHR that has lead me to post on here to find possible solutions. Yesterday I addressed my coolant temp gauge not working by flushing my coolant system, refilling it making sure to burp it until coolant level quit falling. Temp gauge started registering temp and DIC showed temp. Good to go. This morning I leave for work. Start the car to warm up some (47° @ 5am). After 10 min I went to leave, turned the vent selection to front defrost and turned fan speed to high and.... Nothing. At all. No sound no reduced fan speed nothing.. there is power to the temp selection, fan speed and vent mode select knobs.. the amber led that indicates the a/c is on works and if In push I to turn off it cuts off. The amber LEDs b indicating is recirc or outside vent selection both work and the amber LED on the vent mode selecting indicating if def is on or off works properly. I'm at a loss, I checked all the fuses and replaced them anyways just in case in both fuse box locations. I haven't removed the control panel itself, planned to do it tonight possibly to see if I can see... anything . Wanted to jump on here first to hopefully get some troubleshooting steps or something. Thank you in advance

A few posts I read before posting this one mentioned whatever caused their problem was causing the fan to blow like it was stuck in low speed no matter what speed they set it to.As for which settings work, technically none of them do. Now, if I press the a/c on/of in the middle of the temp control knobs, the light indicating it is on lights up and goes off if I push it again.. the light over the recirc is lit and if I change it to it's l outside vent, the light switches to over the selection like it should but it doesn't do anything else. Same with the vent mode select with the rear defroster in it's center. I turn the mode selector through the different modes, the light indicating which mode is engaged lights up, but no vent doors actuate or anything. Light for the . rear defrost goes on and off like it should. I am at a loss here. I've checked fuses and and made sure they were all seated property in both . I've tried searching on here for threads for that but nothing pertaining to what I've got happening. I did notice in the passenger side fuse panel spot 30 is labeled HVAC and holds a relay but there wasn't one in it. I kno this can't be the issue because it's been working up until last night. Idk hopefully I am explaining it well enough you can understand I
Sounds like a bad fan to me. Does the AC compressor run when the AC light is on?
The wire (brown) from the fuse to the fan motor is always hot when the ignition is on. The orange wire goes to the fan switch. The fan switch selects the path to ground through the resistors, default is no resister (high speed).
The fan switch sends an enable signal to the AC compressor. The AC compressor runs if the fan is turned on and either the button is pressed, the defrost mode is selected or the recirc mode is active. The AC light does not light in defrost mode.
Basically, if you think the switch controls power to the fan motor you are wrong. If the resistors pack is bad you get high only.
Have you ever looked at the cabin air filter?
