That GROWL sounds like that accordian sound I talked about in my HHR, (in another topic)...I thought it was a normal sound that it made, and I actually like it, it doesn't bother me a bit, It's Wheelie's VOICE.:)

Mine kinda sounds like a supercharger whine...or cats getting ready to fight kinda sums it up. I working on the rear quarter paint issue now....after that fight is over I will work on the A/C growl/whine.

I think Its a normal sound MD, If yours is making the same kind of sound my Wheelie is making, then I think its a normal engine sound that all HHRs make and just have to accept it, I did. =)

If you have this sound, it is not normal. Mine did not do it constantly, but when it did, you knew it was not normal.

When in doubt, check it out.

It is a very big difference, the before and after sound that it makes. But if you accept it as it is, then that is OK too!

It was worth my time, although I also brought it in for general service as well.

There was a TSB for this problem with the 2006 HHR. The fix required replacing hoses with larger ones (yes I had this done, which eliminated the problem). Surely the 2007s would have the larger hoses in place to correct this problem.

That *accordian* like sound that Wheelie makes was heard by my family and I the day I brought him home, I thought to myself that it was a strange motor sound that it made, and that it was normal, My mom loved the sound it makes, I do too, It reminds me of that movie THE WRAITH with that black Dodge concept car, it made a sound simular to what my HHR made, So I was like..COOL!, I have a WRAITH wagon!..LOL =)

I think the sound your hearing wheelie isnt the A/C. mine sounded almost like a turbo spooling, the A/C sound is different, I had both. the engine sound the dealer said was normal but I just had mine in for the TSB for the A/C and it took care of it, you would not like that sound trust me

Hi Mickey,

I'd have to hear how your HHR sounds to determine if it is the sound my HHR makes, when I don't turn Wheelie's A/C on, the sound goes away and Wheelie sounds quieter...but when I put it on, Wheelie emits that other *Wraith car*like sound...but I hope you get your problems fixed! =)
