Interesting. Glad I only use Mobil 1 now.

 

I think they are going to conduct further testing soon. Be interesting to see if any other major brands bite the dust.

 

WOW!!!! If you look on the back side of the Castrol oil container it states exceeds GM & Ford specs for oil requirments.

 

When I recently was looking at GTX, it did not specifically state GM 6094M on the label, so I did not buy it.

They must have reformulated GTX recently (probably changed the additive package or maybe base oils) which resulted in it not meeting the 6094M spec in the last set of tests.

 

I just put Castrol GTX in 200 miles ago. I wonder if I should dump it?

 

I used to own a 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger with a turbo 2.2, and all I ever used in it was Castrol GTX. This makes me glad I went with Mobil 1 synthetic, because at the time I it was a very tough choice between the two.

 

I use nothing but Castrol in every GM I have ever owned and have never failed to exceed 200K on any of them. I run it in my 1992 Camry and have almost 300K on the same motor.

 

Doh! Same thing here BigAllis1! Says right on the bottle 6049M approved. I have about 50 quarts of every other brand that is listed on that sheet and I pick the one that is not on there...figures! Ehh..gives me an excuse to change the oil again
