C0040 is only part of the code there is a - something or other in the code. It pertains to the right front speed sensor, a loose wire harness connection or internal issue to the wheel bearing hub.

Meanwhile back to the P0442, any progress?

IDK about that, but it sure narrows it down. Merits a hard look for a damaged wire or connector.

C0035 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
C0040 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
C0045 Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
C0050 Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit

Thank you for introducing me to Google. I gave it a try and found nothing about -xxxx extended codes for C0040. Would welcome the fruits of your search.

I once found a C0035 with a high-quality scanner. No -xxxx.

What could be more specific than “C0040 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit”?

All codes have a hex number after them that defines extra information, most don't get shown. In the case of the the wheel speed sensors:
00 "no additional info"
0F "erratic signal"
18 is amplitude less than minimum"

If you're not getting any ABS or traction control lights. you could just ignore the C0040 for now.
