Central locking has a mind of it's own
Hello! I have a 2006 HHR 2.4l. The central locking is working sometimes but not all the time with the remotes. If I press unlock once on the remotes it will eventually unlock the driver door. I need to unlock the rest from inside. It won't lock from the remotes. Sometimes if I press unlock on the remote a few times it will unlock several times minutes later. It will randomly unlock and lock while driving as well. This is the same with both remotes so I don't believe it's a remote problem. The batteries are both good. I tried disconnecting the cars battery for 30 minutes to see if it would reset anything but it didn't change anything. Does anyone know how I can try to fix this or is it something the dealership will need to do? Thank you!

Welcome to the site, no need for a dealership any self respecting mechanic can lube the linkage with a squirt of spray lube.
this is also a sign of a feeble and failing car battery, have it load tested at any auto parts palace, they usually don’t charge for this service.

x2, plus, take the remotes apart and clean the contacts inside. A few owners have had problems with the remotes making sporadic activation's without being touched, indicating a worn out keypad typically. The pads are easily replaceable.

These also correct a lot of problems with the keypad buttons.
I have these in all my fobs. Never had a problem since.

Thanks everyone this is great! I've never changed the battery and have owned the car for 6 years so it sounds like this could be it. It does sound a little sluggish when I crank it over to be honest. I'll change the battery this weekend and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks again! I'll keep you posted! :)
