I've started mine numerous times with the hood open. Especially after oil changes before I start putting everything away.

Maybe that's an auto thing?

OK, now since I replaced my pan and noticed that the ATF is darker than expected after 20,000 miles, since it was changed (236,000 miles on the trans) I would like to have some specifics about the tranny replacement procedure.

 

Since my ATF was black after 20K, I am interested in this. Is the trans as easy to replace as the pictures seem to say? Why do the 2008 models of the 4T45 seem to be different?
