Check Engine, idling at low RPM, low power.
My check engine light dinged on last night. I've also noticed that since then, my engine seems to be generating less power and is idling at a lower than usual RPM.
I have a buddy coming by later with a code reader, but in the mean time I wouldn't mind some input. Any similar problems?
EDIT: Last oil change was three months ago, odo reads out 93000km, no similar issues previously.

I've never had that happen on the HHR so I'd be guessing but, based on experience with other cars I've dealt with, IAC, bad connection at the IAC plug, dirty throttle body or MAFS, or a vacuum leak come to mind. It would be easier to narrow it down when you find out the DTC.

Parked the car for two weeks, since I had to go out of town for training.
Got a code off the computer - P0016 P0016 Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position
Took it into the GM shop in hopes that my warranty would cover it. Turns out that the cam actuator had been shaving bits of metal directly into my oil system. Not sure how I didn't hear that, but it looked like my oil was full of diamond dust.
Engine needs complete replacement, to the tune of 4000-5000. GM is arguing that I didn't change my oil enough, despite the high oil quality currently in the engine. Even though I gave it regular oil changes, I can't prove it because I never actually payed anyone to do it (and thus don't have invoices).
So, not sure what to do at this point. All I know is that the warranty is almost up, and the car appears to be committing suicide. Might pay out of pocket to replace the engine, sell it, and walk away.

I agree with 843de that you should approach GM again for assistance. If that turns out to be a dead end though, I would put a used motor in instead of brand new. It should save you at least a couple thousand off the quote from the dealer for a new one.
