Check engine light

Hello. My check engine light came on and said to check the traction control. Has anyone heard of this. The car seems to run just fine. Also it has been bitter cold here in Minnesota. Could that have something to do with the warning lights?

Go to the local Advance/AutoZone/O'Reilly and have them read the codes (free)! Then start your own thread after you Search the code NUMBER they give you, if you don't understand.

The Check Engine Light could not have said "to check the traction control", to begin with a light cannot talk secondly the light means that a code has been registered in the computer that will lead a competent technician to the cause.

We can't help if you don't have the information.

I moved this post and the previous post into this thread, for the sake of continuity.

Welcome to the site

You will need to get the codes read. Most local parts stores can read codes for you. Make sure you get the code number and post it up on here and we will try and guide you.

Some fault codes will turn the traction control off for safety.

I could have just typed "use the SEARCH box", instead of using 10 minutes of my life restating things and re arranging threads and posts.

My computer just said "it's dinner time". I have now lightened up.

Also. When posting up a question, always include the year, model and engine size.
It helps us help you with your problem. Certain years and engines can have there own unique little quirks. Knowing which combination of these you have can sometimes help identify the problem.
