Chip in my tire, need replacing?

The tire strength is in the Steel/Textile plies not the surface rubber covering.
Since this is a case of road rash and not impact deflection damage or damage higher on the sidewall in a Maximum Flex area it should be OK.
The other question would be has the side impact done any damage to the wheel other then visual surface issues.
I would have that carefully checked when you put on New Tires.
