CODE P0013, P258B newbie need help!!
Hello I my name is Andrew I live in southern California I am a new member I just bought my 2008 HHR SS auto . I got it for a 1000 dollars so I am happy but I have a problem I bought it with a check engine light on and in need of a water pump. its leaking bad I got two codes P0013 and P258B. I replaced the exhaust camshaft position actuator but the engine light is still on. I don't know what the Vacuum pump control is, I also have been reading on this forum and I have been reading that I might have to replace the ECM so I don't know what to do can anyone help me please!!
Welcome to the forums.
Did you reset/clear the error messages from the OBD system after replacing the Actuator for the p0013? Disconnecting the battery for 10 mins might clear it, or else use a OBD ll reader to clear it.
Re; P258B - check this thread for a tsb that is noted: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...2/p258b-41762/ in post #2
Not sure where you you would have come across a recommendation to replace the ECM. Generally that is the very last thing suspected - other than the contacts for it.

I did reset the the car I pulled the battery and it gave me the same code. I don’t know what else to do also i did see that forum and it didn’t help at all. Is there any problems that I’m not seeing.
Welcome to the site, if you’re changing the water pump then consider changing the timing chain and balance shaft chain at the same time.
A stretched timing chain can trigger the code. Cloyes has a kit available but you won’t use the cam sprockets. The crankshaft sprocket is also different in the 2.0 LNF engine.

The vacuum pump was a GM/dealer installed add on to fix the power brake issues on the early automatic trans SS.
Those cars would have a hard brake pedal at cold start up because of a lack of engine vacuum. GM's fix was to install an electric vacuum pump under a warranty provision.
If your's has that pump installed, it will be mounted down by the front of the engine oil pan, just to the left of the starter.
