x2, and even taking it apart is not exactly what I would call difficult.

I found the air filter hardly got dirty at all even way after the recommended change times. Removing it and checking the filter became one of the processes in detailing the car and engine compartment from time to time.

Before you spend money on plugs read your Owner Manual; they are not due until 100,000 miles.

Yeah thats what my Haynes manual says. Ive read online between 80k and 100k. Changing them a bit early, specially during nice weather wont hurt though. And thankfully spark plugs aren't expensive.

Only use AC Delco 41-103 iridium plugs.

Ok. I got the solenoid changed today but the check engine light is still on. I took it a few blocks down the road and back to see if that would do it but nope. Ive seen on this site not to use a code reader to turn it off as that can mess things up. Id prefer not to have to get to the battery as its a bit of a pain to get to for someone with a bad back like me. Will it eventually turn itself off? Like maybe it needs more then few blocks down the road and back. When I had the solenoid issue last summer the light would go on and off while I was waiting for the parts and happened to be off when I changed them so didn't have to deal with this then.

Usually the P0420 Light has to be turned off, you can use a scanner to clear the codes.

It went off on its own. I just ran to the post office down the street and as soon as I got in and started the vehicle to go it was off. It was a P0014 code btw Oldblue. And whopper it wasn't someone telling me, it was on another thread on this site. Someone said they turned the light off with the code reader and bad stuff happened. Don't remember what exactly tho. And someone replied to them to never use the reader to do that. Im planning to get a scanner when I can afford it. This is the one Ive been looking at as its one you leave plugged in at all times and use a app on your phone to control it. https://getfixd.io/offer-01/?utm_sou...id=625&oid=486

Clearing codes can make problems in that all of the 0BD2 need to run again, that sometimes takes weeks. Some states will not pass emissions testing with incomplete tests.

That code reader is a complete rip off at that price. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...elm327&_sop=15 is the same item, the only difference is you have to type the code returned into GoOgle yourself.

If you are asceered of eBay try Walmart https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=elm327&cat_id=0.

You can get them in BlueTooth, RF or USB interface to your smartphone. Then get the Torque app for Android, either the free or paid version. I don't know about iPhone apps.
