Code POO17 on HHR SS
Code POO17 on HHR SS
Hey people,
I took my SS to Valvoline Instant oil change near me for a oil change.Ive been using them for ages on all my cars.Always get the full synthetic oils.Anyways I pulll the car in and its running fine. They change the oil and go to pull it out of the bay,and the tech raises the hood.I walk outside and its running like hell.
Now this guy is nervous as all get out and calls the manager to come out.The idle is rough and the "check engine" light came on.I had them re check the oil filter and install a new one, still no good. There was also a bit of a tick that seemed to come from the top side of the engine. They shut it off and got a code scanner and pulled two code P0017 that showed to be a crank/cam position sensor.
To make a long story short, they got it into the dealership closest to me and checked it out.Had the same code as before and should have some word by Monday at the earliest.
Is there anything that they could have done to screw the car up?We looked for vac lines or sensors knocked around but all looked OK.The dealership service manager said it most likely just happened in thier lot.
Could it be just the sensor or am I looking at a camshaft/crank problem here?It is covered under warranty, but Im just courious if anyone else has had this problem before.
