Cold Air Intake - P0171?

Probably the "cold" air setup. (They are usually the opposite of their name, sucking in hot, underhood air) Lots of folks have experienced CEL's from installing those so called Cold Air setups. The Ecotec engines are pretty finicky when you start messing with the preset air flow parameters. In other words, the computer sees different air flow as something wrong.
Plus. There really isn't any gain from those CAI systems unless you tune for it.
Best way to tell. Put the original filter setup back on, clear the codes and go drive it and see if the code comes back. My guess is it won't.

Sorry sir your off base with your ideas.
Sooner or later the ECM will realize your driving habits by what you've done and make changes for it.
The only way to get better MPG is a programmable tune or keep going down hill.
I will give you credit for your thoughts. That's what modifications are all about.

The factory airbox is a well designed unit... GM put quite a bit of engineering into these things.

What tool was used ?
Shouldn't it be cubic feet of air per minute ? (Cubic Ft./Min)

COMPUTER controlled. If only we still had carburetors, then stupid human tricks would work.
If you send me $300 I will gladly order a &.02 resistor from Digi-Key and tell you where to splice it in to fool your computer so it gives you 1/8 more horsepower.
The sensors, MAF & MAP, tell the computer how much air is flowing into the combustion chamber. The computer then computes the amount of fuel to let the injectors provide in order to achieve 14.7:1 A/F ratio.
On what planet is warm air (less dense/less oxygen) preferred to cold air (denser/more oxygen)?

I just used a scan tool and pulled up the live data. I noted the numbers of the aftermarket setup, switched to the stock and then measured again.

Maybe that's why the MAF sensor includes a air temp sensor and the MAP includes a barometer?
