2007 2.2 LS model HHR need to replace coolant recovery tank. Any other years compatible or does it have to be 2007?

If it has a recovery tank, not a surge tank, they all seem to be the same.

I need to ask: why?

 

My best guess Don, would be that lisasvette had the tank split due to age and/or freeze damage in the past.

I've noticed that the plastic used on the washer fluid reservoirs seems to become brittle with age, and this embrittlement might also affect the recovery tanks.

But I have no idea as to whether the two parts share the same plastic makeup chemically.
