Ok. So would you recommend that I go ahead and replace the sensor if the tstat looks fine?

I'd hate to take it into the shop as this seems like an easy fix. I mean the car runs great besides this issue.

Probably what I would do.

Unless you are having other symptoms like extreme overheating.

Hey donbrew...another question for you....

I was reading another thread since I don't have the car here for me to work on til later.....but it just dawned on me...

The fan does come on fairly instantly when I start the car from a cold start...this is with the a/c on. Is this normal for the fan to come on with the a/c on even though the car isn't even warmed up yet?

I'm in az hot ass weather if it makes a difference.

Again, I'm not having any overheating issues. Thx again.

fan is ALWAYS on when A/C is on. A/C is on when A/C, defrost or recirc is on.

Well after the 3rd Thermostat and Sensor both AC Delco I still get --- occasionally.
If in the morning I start the HHR up and let it sit idle for 5 minutes it is fine but if I get in and start up and drive it will throw a --- in 5 minutes if it don't reach 175. So last week I would remote start for 5 minutes, get in and it be 130-140 then by the time I get down the street it would be normal temperature and no errors.

Since I did but AC delco the thermostat will read 180-200 like it should instead of the 160-170.

Any ideas?

mine has been running fine ever since my post the other day....temp gauge reading correct, a/c working fine....I'm contemplating just leaving it alone now since it's working again and just dealing with the intermittent problem.

Don't wanna keep swapping out and replacing parts if not needed.

Kinda lost here.

Sounds like you my have had an air bubble trapped in the system that finally worked its way out.

Hope so...

What I didn't add was that I've had to disconnect the battery to reset it. But after that it's been working fine.. Fingers crossed.

ABOVE 180F is normal and what the computer wants to see. 170F will set a code(period), that means the T-stat is open all the time.

Did you replace the cap?

to both of you:
Could be an air bubble; because the sensor reads the temperature of its surroundings and air is cooler than water.
