Coolant temperture sensor keeps needing replaced.

Just bought a 2008 HHR with the 2.4 liter and started having issues where the A/C would blow hot and the coolant gauge and digital display would not read. Well long story short the temperature sensor needs replaced. I'm thinking OK it does have 125,000 miles on it.
The problem though is that according to the carfax I got when I bought it the car that sensor was replaced not only in November 2020, but also in March 2021 less than 1000 miles ago.
Is it possible to have just gotten two faulty ones back to back? Or could there possibly be some other issue with the vehicle causing them to fail prematurely.
Please any advice or input would be appreciated.

Probably not the sensor. Much more likely the thermostat that is bad. Use only ACDelco part number 131-158. They may have put the wrong one in last November.

X2 the thermostat is most likely a Stant or some other $15.00 part, the AC Delco 131-158 isn’t cheap , so most shops don’t install them, the coolant might have air pockets and need to be burped.

Does ACDelco tstat 131-158 really work in an 2008 2.4 LT?

When I've searched this part online, it says it's not compatible with my 2008 LT 2.4

The AC Delco is compatable with my 2006 2.4.
I would look into where you are getting your information.
Chevrolet says it is the recommended P/N,
even Amazon says it fits.

And we’ve been recommending it for years, in all years and engines 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 litres
