Cranks, fuel pump not running…

Hello so I have a 09 2.2 that suddenly on a cold morning cranks but won’t fire up. I used remote start and key after. Noticed fuel pump not running, no fuel squirting out of rail when pressed. I’m a tech so I replaced the pump, still not working…Fuse has power, did a relay swap, no go. I will be diving in deeper when I can, but I’m wondering if the crank sensor or anything else will stop the pump from even priming? Also if you have wiring diagram it would be appreciated. Thanks

Check wiring connector under the car, near the fuel tank, they have been known for corrosion

How would a wiring diagram help? There is a wire from the pump relay to the pump. So simple that I can't find a diagram that includes the pump.
You turn the key, a signal is sent to the BCM, The BCM sends a signal to the pump relay, the pump relay sends power to the pump.
The pump only runs for a 2 seconds without an "ignition reference pulse". I can't find anything to explain what that means.
What makes you think "crankshaft sensor"?
Any codes you are neglecting to mention, like P0230 ( fuel pump relay code)? Any recent work under the hood?

The first test would be to short pins 85 & 86 of the relay to see if it is the pump or not.

No codes…I dropped the tank again and I’m getting voltage to the tank connector…also hooked up 12v to pump and it runs(new pump). I didn’t hear it run when it was all hooked up in the car. I bought a crank sensor just in case, cheap enough. There is some chaffed insulation on fuel pump wiring but it’s superficial, gonna fix that before tank goes back in as it may cause issues later…so either I got some resistance in the fuel pump wiring somewhere(measures normal with multimeter)or it’s something else….but no codes, will be spending Saturday at the shop with it…

But did you jump the relay? That would confirm the wires are good/bad.

So I jumped the relay, then jumped the positive connector at the pump and gave it ground directly to the battery and it ran. When I give the pump direct power and use the harness ground, nothing…..so looks like bad ground, gonna pull up the rear carpet.

What need to know now is where the actual ground point is, wire goes into larger body harness.

thanks for that quick response! i did find the ground point and the nut was lose, i did get rear ended 8 years ago and they replaced the rear crossmember and bumper, idk that they would have had to take the ground point lose or not but most likely they did. well hopefully i wont have to worry about the fuel pump going bad for a while, was thinking about replacing it anyway. 122k

So, the loose ground wire was the issue? It’s running now?
