Cruise Control issue

Well...

I've had my car back to the dealer four (yes, 4) times for the cruise control. They replace switches, sensors and other things...now, they're going to replace the BCM.

GM says it's a known issue with the programming of the BCM. No TSB on it right now but I'm guessing if it's a known issue, everyone is in for a flash of their BCM.

If it's a known issue why wasn't it done before any replacements took place?

It's known by Vinnys dealer because he has been there 4 times. I myself haven't seen one with that complaint, except an HHR with a standard transmission, which is a clutch switch issue.

first time, no issue as it was intermittent, still intermittent but next two times they replaced a switch (there are two different switches) one time each switch, then replaced both at the same time for number 4

on 3 and 4 they called GM to discuss the issue, now they are going to replace the BCM per GM.

I asked the service manager if it was going to be fixed this time...he crossed his fingers and said "hope"

Oh well...my first Chevy and it's been to the dealer 6 times so far, I'm not going to even mention the seat issue that they said was in my head (feels like it's loose) or the drooping arm rest...oh well

Vinny:

What issue are you having with your cruise control? When I first purchased my '07 2LT (automatic) I also had a cruise control issue where 90% of the time it just wouldn't set and maintain a speed. The light on the on/off buton would light correctly but the set switch had no effect.

After 3 days of this behavior I took it to the dealer who of course could not replicate the problem, but it has not happened again (although I only have around 1600 miles on it).

Is this the same issue you had? If so, how has the new BCM helped the situation?

Yes, that is the issue exactly, seems to come and go (today the cruise works) button lights but when you hit the engage button nothing happens. Sometimes it works 5 out of seven days or works in the morning then doesn't work in the afternoon.

The dealer called GM on the issue due to the fact I'm getting just a little pissed off about it (I drive mostly highway so I NEED my cruise, not to mention the gas savings) This last time GM said there seemed to be a programming issue with the BCM so they are replacing that next. They also told the tech that they've had a few of these similar problems.

BCM is not in yet, they ordered it on Friday and said they didn't know when it would arrive (strange?) so I'm to call on Wed or Thurs to see if it's in and schedule an appointment.

back at it again,
It's been two weeks since I had the BCM replaced, worked flawless until yesterday...
Now same ***** different day. Of course I was driving 3 hours home on the Interstate when it decided not to work. It's working today but now I hate to take this thing anwhere since I don't know if I'll have a cruise that works. May have to trade this thing in

^^Sounds as though it needs to be considered a lemon. Start contacting your state attorney generals office and see what can be done.

Problem is, I bought it used, drove to Detroit to pick it up and I live in Ohio.
I've contacted GM quite a few times (they offered me a f'n oil change for my trouble).
Overall, I do like the truck it does all the things I got it for plus it looks way cool. However, I put about 1500-2000 miles a MONTH on my cars so a cruise is a must! With the gas prices I like to set mine at 63 and normally get over 30 on the road.
