DIC personalization
I just bought a used 2008 HHR. I was able to enter the DIC personalization menu once per the instructions in the manual, but not since. Holding down the two buttons doesn't do anything now.

As oldblue said you may have to reboot it.
Also, you stated "holding down the buttons". I know on mine "holding" the buttons down won't work.
A quick press and release of the buttons works every time on mine.

IIRC, you need to have the ignition on, engine off. But anyway, just hold them down for a short, then proceed.
