Unhappy Help 06 HHR :blower fan stoped working on setting 1-3. Water leak inside

I have 2-4 issues. I am looking for help. I will list in order.

1. My pasenger seat area fills with water everytime it raids ( this is the footwell area) When I opened the glovebox and looked at the airfilter ist was wet.I know this is posted in other areas. Sorry for the repost.

2. Lighter in front is not working. I checked the fuse it is ok. and from the way the diagram shows there is only one fuse for lighter. The rear lighter still is working.

3. The switch for the blower fan does not work on settinngs 1-3. Only turns on for high setting 4. ( thinking maybe a relay ) but just weird this all started after the water leak.

Thanks in advance for help with this.
And again apoligize if some of this is posted other places.
Matthew

mgeinitz..

Your problem #1 could be from a blocked sunroof drain as mentioned in the second link provided by an08HHR. Several members have had that leak however I don't recall anyone having HVAC blower problems from a sunroof leak.

If you do not have a sunroof then it is the leak under the cowel where the buytul rubber patch is. If the rubber is in good shape you can probably just reseal it. My rubber was torn so I cut a replacement out of very thin sheet aluminum and silicone sealed it down. Don't ever have to worry about that one leaking.

Problem #2 I've never had but I thought the 2 outlets were on different fuses, check the fuse locations listed on the two fuse area covers.

Problem #3 will be solved by a new relay which controls the 3 lower fan speeds. The High speed of the fan uses direct 12 volt and bypasses the relay.

I would however cure the water leak problem before replacing the relay or the new relay will have a short life.

Good luck

I had the water leak issue this past summer. Fairly easy fix. Hardest part is getting cowl off.

Have the exact same issues. I didn't bother getting the leak looked at. Didn't notice until after warranty. I just park car nose downhill when it rains or snows. The two outlets are on seperate fuses, my front one has blown out a few times, whereas the rear one has never. As for the fan. Same deal as you. I still need to get that looked at.

Smile 2006 Blower problems

After reading all the problems other owners are having, I have made up my mind. Come Spring, I'm dumping it and going with a foreign make.
When it happens, I'll come back here and make my final "will and testament".
Thanks to you all!

Sorry to hear you're having problems with your HHR rggoodwin, we're here to help, but good luck with a "foreign make", they aren't perfect either.
