Had my drivers rear sensor replaced monday, last week while on the highway, I happen to check my dic, And it said the drivers rear was 59 lbs so i pulled over and checked it , 34 lbs ? kept driving . It would show 20 then 50 then 2 then 63 lbs, Aparently having a meltdown it finnaly showed a line and then the service tire sensor message came on. the next morning, no problem till the tires got warm, then the warning.
so if it's acting up it's probally ready for the meltdown.

Don't the pressure sensors have batteries inside them? Couldn't they theoretically need to be replaced once in a while? The "--RF" message, which should stand for Radio Frequency, probably means it's loosing signal from one or more sensors. Obviously they have to be wireless to read inside a spinning tire. Probably needs new batteries (watch size/style) I'm guessing...

I think the batteries are good until failure, IOW no replacement available.

Day off yesterday and I was in the dealer's neighborhood so I stopped in. At first it was "we'll run a scanner around the wheels..." Uhh, yeah OK it fails twice a day and resets with each start. I showed him the photos I took of the DIC message and told him it was really the RF not the RR because I didn't reset them after a rotate. Then I asked what a rotate costs... "$14.95" So I handed him the $15 service card I got in the mail and told him to "X" rotate them. About a half hour later he comes to get me. He says they replaced the sensor on the RF tire which is now the LR wheel. Perfect. That's exactly what I wanted.

My first dealer service with this car.

SVC Tires

After I put on my summer tires on I tried my remote and it works with no problems. The only issue I have is I have to hit the info button to get rid of the SVC readout on the display, and the tire symbol stays lit all the time .

That happened to my '08 LS, In fact, it kept happening for (3) straight months!!! They NEVER solved the problem. They replaces ALL the sensors and the receiving unit inside the car. Again, the problem was still there. I Finally filed a law suite against GM (Lemon Law) and won my suite. GM bought back my vehicle and returned ALL my money that I put into the car. This included ALL my monthly payments plus my down payment. I no longer own this vehicle.

Good luck with your problem.

I was just at the Dealer today, he (brother in law) says the TPSM unit is very sensitive, it will only accept a very small delta or difference in pressure on the same axle, mine didn't like 31 to 34, 31 was on the RF. If yours was the same as mine, the display showed
LF_34 RF... this means it doesn't like the way the lower pressured tire is rolling (slower) it all about the % of delta. My AUDI will accept 1.5% before it alarms??!!

cruzin, that just isn't true. They will accept much larger differences, as I have seen it when my LR had a slow leak. I didn't bother to add air multiple times until there was a 8psi or so difference between the tires. The old style TPM systems would alarm based on differences from one wheel to the other, but the system in the HHR will alarm based on the individual tire's pressure. Something is wrong with your TPM system, not the air pressure in the one tire. You probably have an intermittantly faulty RF sensor.
