Ok... glad I found this thread...

My fiance has a 2006 HHR LT as well and we are now trying to find out a way to temporarily disable the alarm until we have the funds to buy a new remote key fob and get it programed.

My fiance's key fob remote just died for good. We need to buy a new one. I have repaired it a number of times and can no longer manually repair it.

For the meantime, we are trying to find a way to disarm the factory alarm.

On the 2006 HHR LT, after you lock the doors with the interior power lock near the inside door handle, the system is armed. When you come back to the HHR after a few minutes, and unlock the door with the key and open the door, the alarm is triggered until you get into the car and insert the key in the ignition and start the car.

There is no way to disarm by the DIY dashboard / steering wheel options.

Is there a fuse we can remove to disable the alarm?

The unlock 2x method listed above does not seem to work on her 2006.

Big Kahuna...You would think that someone in this world other than you and me wants to disable this freaking thing. I'm thinking like you...that a pulled fuse would solve this but I have not tried any yet.

How about you wire in a toggle switch to the horn relay circuit? Of course you will have no horn if someone breaks in to your vehicle.

Thanks guys...

Too dangerous to disable the horn... and don't feel like wiring it up to a toggle for a tempoary fix...

No fuse is designated for the alarm system only...

Thought there would be any easier work around...

Guess we'll just have to deal with the unlock and honking then hurry up and get the key in the ignition until we can afford the $100+ dollars for the new remote and programing...

Yep... fuse number 55 under the fuse block in the engine compartment on the 2006 HHRs.

55 under the hood should be a relay.

Why do you want to disable the alarm in the first place?... are you trying to get it stolen?
