Do I need to change my starter?

I have a 2011 HHR panel that I bought from the company I work with, it have 180,000 miles.

It does this loud high pitch sound while cranking.

is this something that I need to worry about?

Thanks in advance

Sounds pretty normal, the bendix drive could be a little corroded, if the car was sitting for any period of time

Thanks @Oldblue. the car has been in use in the last 5 years, It was sitting for a year before I bough it in 2018.

My father noticed the sound and he also said that it could be the bendix. Honestly I didn't noticed/paid attention until he pointed it out.

will this sound go away if I change the starter?

It should, but if the fly wheel is worn it might not. Personally I’d leave it alone.

I didn't hear anything unusual. Maybe he is not used to transversely mounted engines where the starter is right behind the radiator.

It’s really hard to hear and diagnose engine noises over the internet. Take it by a repair shop and let them listen.
