Sounds more like the high pressure fuel pump.
A rod knock would speed up with rpm increase.

Oh thank God...

Does it usually sound like this when it's going out?

It wasn't this loud before.

I haven't checked the sound while revving and engine bay open. If it doesn't get louder/knockier with increased rpm, should rule out rods?

Where are you in your oil changes? Still possibly over filled? Or still the heavier oil in the crankcase?
or have you changed the Lucas additive oil out and gone back to Dexos 2 5W30 .

Yes the noise is from the HPFP is there a cover over it?

The red arrow points towards it

Still on 4 quarts of 10-40 with 1 quart of lucas. (Been running this for years in my 2010 LT) I don't suppose this could cause issues in the 2.0? It really brought the smoking down a lot if I keep it under 2500rpm.

I'll have to check the cover. It wasn't this loud before.

Does the knock increase in frequency when raising engine speed?

Switch back to 5 quarts of 5W30, the other oil is to heavy for the 2.0 turbocharged engines especially the Lucas additive

I don't notice it at all once I'm driving but I haven't opened the hood to check it while parked yet I'll have to do that when I get home

I think I'm going to disagree. The HPFP is more like a chatter. Here's mine.
