Does anyone know the correct way to remove the pin switch from the door jamb? I know the switch is bad, but I don't want to break anything else trying to remove it.

Not sure if yours is the same but on the 2011 there is a small tab on the side of the switch that you have to use a small blade screwdriver to press. I don't remember what side as it was some time ago I removed mine. Also, when pulling the switch out try to get a hold of the electrical connector so as not to let it fall back in the hole. If it does you will need to remove the kick panel to get at it.
