Question Door lock not working.

My rear passenger side door lock will not function. I can manually pull it up, press the remote and the lock will not move down. I can push it down, press the remote and the lock will not move up. I can hear the relay trying to do something when I press the remote, but it won't move the lock.
I took the door panel off and remove the entire lock mechanism from the door. I could see some hex screws that seemed to hold the entire thing together, so I removed them all to see if I could see anything, but I couldn't pry the top off.
My guess is I will have to replace the entire lock mechanism for that door.
Anyone know where and how much this thing is?

Thanks.

Im taking mine in for the exact same issue next week. They tried fiddling with it and bending the rod initially, but that did nothing. They then determined it was binding inside the lock mechanism itself, which means replacing it. The dealer doesnt stock them so it took a week before they got it. Luckily Im still under warranty.

Ya, I'm way beyond warranty coverage. This will be a DIY project for me.

I'm wondering how long it will be before I have to do the same. My passenger front doorlock is what I can only describe as slow. Sometimes it locks and unlocks when I hit the button... sometimes I have to hit the button twice.

Hi Guy's, take a look at the TSB section on here. There is a TSB on door locks binding due to the hole in the door panel, it's to small and causes the lock button to jam.
I had this problem until I filed out the holes in the plactic panel. I'll see if I can find the correct TSB for everyone ??

Speaking of locks. Is there a way to shorten or cut off the locking posts? They're too damn tall, they get in the way of me and my passengers resting our arms on the door when the windows are down.

RaineMan-

I removed the door lock knobs, measured & trimmed the threaded studs & wound back on my chrome lock knobs.
Now when doors lock, they are almost flush. And I did file out the holes in the door panels slightly, just seemed too snug of a fit...

Thanks for the info.
I don't think that this is my problem. I completely removed the latch from the door and with the electrical still plugged in, I actuated the lock and it still would not move either way.
