Remote start and door lock not working

I have a 2006 HHR and recently my door locks and remote start have stopped working. I have 2 key fobs and on both you can unlock the car but you can not lock or start it. I have replaced the batteries in both key fobs, the ignition switch recall was done and replaced the car battery. I have checked the fuses but do not see one specifically for the locks or remote start. Anyone having the same problem? Am I missing something?

Does the "panic" button work?

"panic" + "lock" = "Remote Start"

I'm thinking worn out contacts on either the pad or the circuit board.

Welcome to the site

I would recommend testing the key fobs first. Autozone and advanced around here have a fob tester.

It's not uncommon for the one or two buttons on the key fob to stop working.

If you can't lock the doors with the fob the remote start won't work either.

My locks would work but the remote start was failing. I replaced the sensor(my dealership did the work) for the remote start near the front driver headlight and all was fine and I got 1 new fob( it was worn out). 08 HHR SS.
Probably a remote sensor needs to be replaced.(around $70)

The RCDLR (Remote Control Door Lock Receiver) is in the headliner bump behind the rearview mirror.

There is a hood closed sensor, that's part of the hood latch. Remote start won't work without it working.

I got no idea what sensor you could possibly mean near the driver side headlight. On '09 and beyond there is a air temp sensor there. '08 should be on passenger side behind the bumper cover.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 20-30 mins.?
