Door relocks itself when trying to open

Hey Guys,
Have a 2009 HHR and have experienced the drivers door lock sticking situation intermittently in the past, but haven't had the time to fix it yet. Most of the time I just manually push the button down when I get out. However now have another problem with the lock.

When you unlock using the remote from outside the car, most of the time it will unlock, but then you grab the door handle to open the door and it starts to slightly open, but all of a sudden the door lock goes down and locks itself again. This is really starting to be a major pain.

Was wondering has anyone else had this happen, and or is this related to the door lock only working sometimes? Any info on this problem would be appreciated, thanks.

I had a similar issue on the passenger door. Ended up being the solenoid. Mine was still under warranty.

I have the same issue and have dealt with it for almost a year now... Just too busy to stop for it! My other locks seem to be slow going up and down as well sometimes lately. Same problem then? Since my garage (my driveway...) is only open when it is fair weather, it will wait until Spring but would love to have a plan for then! Thanks.

Thanks it may be covered now under my extended warranty still, so I'm going to make an appointment to bring it in. Until then I'll stay away from Drive In Movies, as I don't want to have the HHR turn into Christine and lock me out with the wife inside! Hopefully it will be the solenoid and an easy fix.

...the door relocks becasue it is shy and doesn't want to come out and play.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
