dorman key programmer
dorman key programmer
I bought a Dorman key fob programmer for my 2006 Chevy HHR and it won’t program. I looked through this website to see if others had the same problem, I checked fuse 29 and 30 and the power is looking fine. The programmer will beep 15-20 times after being plugged in for 60 seconds and do it again about 2 mins later. Now I know the problem isn’t the car, should I chalk it up to a faulty programmer and contact Dorman? I took it up to the mechanic and autozone and nobody can program it. I am moving to a city where starting, locking, and unlocking my car via remote will be the safest and most convenient option. If am I unable to do it myself, what price should I aim for a dealership/locksmith?
I would return it to where you bought it. They are only good for 3 sessions. There has been speculation that sometimes they get used and returned (by dishonest people). Try another one!
I purchased one years ago, with the dorman fob, from Summit. I also purchased an OE fob on Amazon. The programmer worked for both. BUT... the dorman fob would cause a "low fob batt" message in the DIC. Tried a few new batteries. I worked with Summit and Dorman, 3 times, sets were sent to me, with the same result. Finally gave up on the Dorman fobs and just used the OE. But, yes, the programmer worked just fine!
