Drivers door seems to have slid forward

Last month I was at a used lot looking at a black LT panel. 90% a great car "perfect" price, but I passed on it when I noticed the drivers door was fully slid forward rubbing on the fender. I figured it may have been a poorly reassembled wreck or something.

Fast forward to last week on a VERY windy day and the door on mine was pulled out of my hand as I opened it. Got my gas and went about my business.
Yup you guessed it now mine has the same issue.GRRRRRRR
The panel I looked at was gone 2 days after I looked at it Double GRRRRRRRR!!

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen similar issue of door slidage?

Not "slidage" I'm sad to say, when the wind caught it and took it out of your hands, it bent the hinges on the door.

Check with your insurance agent and then get some estimates from some body shops, the door will have to be removed and the hinges replaced, otherwise it will continue to catch on the fender. This should be covered under your policy's "Comprehensive" section, but you will have to pay your deductible of course.

Do that long enough and there won't be any paint left on the door's leading edge, or the fender's trailing edge, then the rust fairy will come a calling.

843-

I have to wonder if the hinges or the jambs get bent in a case like that..

Hinges are beefier looking than the jambs.

Just sayin..

My friend with the Bail Bonds business had a wind gust "grab" the door on his '09 panel, he had me look at it, then took it over to the body shop I used for Paddy....both hinges were bent to the tune of $400 with parts and labor.

The limiting gadgets on our doors just can't take a big amount of force trying to swing the doors outward, and the hinges aren't as beefy as they might appear.
