DTC code c0050 Rear Hub Replaced code on

Hi hope everyone is enjoying their rides, I have the esc, traction and lights on and took to the mechanic I trust.

The code was pointing to the right rear hub which I bought original brand new and just replaced, but the code and the dashboard lights are still there.

He is advising me to take it to an electro-mechanic to check the circuit, but I was wondering if there was a way I can check something myself before dropping more cash into the problem.

Thank in advance for your comments,

Best regards,

Dan

Have you tried disconnecting the NEGATIVE post on the battery for a few minutes to reset the code and lights?

Or using a code reader to reset the system?

The car is at the mechanic so I hope he did it with the DTC scan tool, as that should be normal protocol after changing the part.

ABS codes have additional digits.

c0050 00 = something wrong with the circuit (a broken wire)
c0050 0f = speed sensor sending erratic signal
c0050 18 = signal amplitude less than minimum

If he is not getting the additional digits, he needs a better code reader. But since the hub has been replaced that leaves only the 00.

My guess is you have a bad pin or wire at the EBCM.

The error will not clear from HISTORY for 100 drive cycles. The light is only on when the fault is CURRENT.

It is a bit complicated and requires some study to understand.

He should have access to AllData online.

Yes the code has extra digits, sorry for missing that out. I have attached a pic of the screen of the reader.

Would you consider this is something I could track down? or should I rather take it to a specialist?

My suspicion would be to check the wiring going to the EBCM from the RR wheel. Wires get chafed or burned.

Did anybody mess with the EBCM connector jut before this problem? Then likely a bent/bad pin.

Could be the connector at the RR, or a pulled wire.

Unfortunately, that code only tells you something is wrong in the circuit, not necessarily any component.

Start with disconnect/reconnect connectors, then continuity check wires and check for shorts. If you know how to do that kind of thing you don't need to pay someone who does.

Cheapest to most expensive:
connectors
wires
hub
EBCM
