I got out and drove the car a little today and there are still no leaks. The car is running fine. The modification to the part was not that difficult, you just need to have a TIG welder. Lightly grind the part in the location where you are going to weld, this will make sure you have a clean weld.

I don't know how many early 2006 2.4 HHR's were sold with the oil cooler/heat exchanger on them. As they get older & get more miles on them, I am sure this issue will come up again. Even if you take your car to the dealer and have them change the seals on the stock oil cooler for you, make sure they fix the leak.

Answer; not many.
I think it was a half year change over to no cooler and most had the 2.2L to begin with.

Well .... I hope I am NOT the only person that has an oil cooler on there HHR. I feel good that I was able to complete the project, even though there were some obstacles. The relocated cooler is working fine and there are NO leaks. I hope this helps somebody besides myself. And if you have ANY questions just email me.

UPDATE 04-01-2015:
I had an oil line failure. The oil line split & oil was shooting out. I smelled it as soon as it happened. I pulled over and turned the car off. I had the car flat bedded to my home. I then went to the hose shop & purchased a MUCH HIGHER grade of hose. it is rated at 350 psi. The manufacture should have installed an oil pressure gauge, instead of the NOW NORMAL IDIOT LIGHT.

If your oil pressure is that high there is something wrong.

Is that oil line? Hot oil eats most types of rubber for breakfast.

Yes Donbrew, this is the oil line and it is not only rated at 350 psi-it is also high temperature rated. This hose is MUCH better then the previous hose. The old hose would get rock only when the motor was running. The new hose is hard all the time.

The hose is rated at an oil temp from 55 to 302 for oil. The link has the info. it is: 836-10 Parker push loc plus.

I was actually asking about the failed tubing.

Without actually researching I am guessing the oil pressure is below 180 PSI.
