ESC + Traction usually stems from a performance code, like one of the VVT codes or a transient VVT code that does not set the CEL. That is why I suggested the checks in #26.
I had an ESC light on and the only code was C0035. ESC can't work properly with a malfunctioning wheel speed sensor.

OOPS! Wrong. That was an ABS light. But I still doubt that ESC will be happy with a wheel speed sensor problem.

ESC + Traction. Not just ESC. or ESC + ABS If the engine is not running properly there is no need for traction control, since it should be parked.
And "usually". Nice that you had an exception.

I had a C0035 code in the spring, it was a defective brand new hub, the internal wires were broken!

I was wrong. I had ABS light and C0035. Off to correct.

Had a broke clip on a VVT plug. Went ahead and replaced both pigtails for VVT solenoid and problem fixed. No lights on dash except for TPMS. Can't fix that, it's the module. That is, unless someone out there has a suggestion.

Since it is a 2008 the RCDLR module probably needs updated firmware. The 2008s had a problem with losing memory when the battery goes dead or removed. This condition probably started right after a new battery installation. Else, the batteries in the wheels only last about 10 years.
Somebody with a subscription to TechLine and a computer interface can fix the firmware.
