It could be a tensioner headed south or a guide on the edge of breaking apart

That's a nice set !!when I had it replaced with cloyes timing kit at 170.000

I'm still waiting to find out what noise would be engine speed independent.

Injectors speed up with engine speed. That's what makes the engine speed up.
