so I am going to buy a tech two scanner any thoughts on a clone vs a $4000.00 tool

It would be cheaper to put the right engine in than spend $4000 on a tool, hoping it will fix everything. Then resell the engine you have now. Probably even cheaper than a clone.

Just a thought.

well looks like vector bundle say they can have it running with VIN change for 300 so I am happy with the 800 bucks I spent total for and motor and tranny that have only 76k on them and gets 4 mpg better than my old one. I still may have codes from the missing components like abs and other little things but it will pass deq and run I like it.
Thank u all for the input it was very helpful. I am sure u guys will hear from me again

The ECM doesn't know about the ABS , so you shouldn't have codes for that.

It is on the GMlan so, yes it could cause problems. The LAN is basically a token ring network; where each segment must be terminated somehow. It might not, but could.

If one of the modules on the "ring" becomes faulty the "ring" breaks at that point. I am not sure if absence would cause the same thing as a fault. But the controller is looking for digital signatures of the modules.

Too complicated for me this morning. I wish I had been partying as much as my head thinks it was.

Hello all I have posted here about two years ago I have a 07 hhr 2.2l that I put a 2010 2.2l into I used the harness from the 2010 from power distribution through out the motor. I can get it to start because I had the vatts disabled and jump the crank relay. But the TCM is not communicating also the BCM is out of the 07. I can't find any good pin outs for the cars and need help please it's a big job with out

So, the 2010 2.2 has VVT the 2007 2.2 did not, hmm I don’t think there’s even a possibility of including those.
You might get away with changing the timing chain camshaft gears from the 2010 to the 2007 .
This would eliminate the cam solenoids and the camshaft part from the VVT

Non VVT gears

Cam phaser for VVT

The motor runs with the vvt because I used the ecu and wiring harness out of 2010

What made you believe it is a VATS system? And why do you think that would inhibit anything after an engine swap?

It is a PassKey3 security; if you keep the key and the PK3 module on the ign switch together you do not have to jump through hoops.

It wil disable the injectors not the starter.

relay #51 run/crank supplies power to the TCM/ECM.
