Exhaust Cam, Timing Tensioner, Door Module issues
Two weeks ago we purchased a new 2009 HHR-LT2, with sun roof, remote start, etc. The first day we drove it, the engine ran rough and the check engine light went on. Took it to the dealership for adjustments. They worked on it, said it was safe to drive and asked that we come back when some new parts arrived for it. In the meantime, the driver-side door lock and power window failed. Yada, yada... five of the first eight days of ownership, the car was in the dealership for warrenty repairs (failed exhaust cam actuator, failed timing tensioner, failed left-door module). A ver' nice way to start out, huh? The guys at the dealership were great and a little embarrased by the quality issues. Bottom line, the car seems fine now and is a load of fun to drive. Only other issue, when starting the car, sometimes I have to pump the brake pedal a couple of times before I can get the car out of Park -- and this is on flat surfaces. Have others experienced this? Is it worth (shudder) taking back to the dealer?

I haven't had any problems with the shifter/brake interlock - others have and there may be a recall on that issue. I do recall a recall on a shifter cable - perhaps the two problems are related. Others will point you to it or you can review the thread ChevyMgr has on all recalls.
