Timing Chain Tensioner
Timing Chain Tensioner
What are the symptoms of a timing chain tensioner going bad?
I have several posts about tensioners going bad, but I'm not sure what that would cause.
One of my 06 HHRs (120K miles) has a slightly rough idle, then it vibrates while accelerating. There is also a "chain buzzing" type sound you can hear from the engine at idle. The power seems normal, there is no oil consumption, fuel mileage seems ok.

A "chain buzzing" sound would lead me to wonder if you're dealing with failing/bad chain guides, and that a complete timing chain kit might be in order.
If you haven't prod's excellent thread on the tensioners, here it is....

As to the rough idle, when were the plugs changed last, MAF cleaned, throttle body cleaned?
