exhaust rattle
So I had new tires put on last Saturday and while it was up on the lift I asked the guy if I could take a look to try and find out where the rattle was coming from.
We cranked it up and tap the pipe a few times and it appears to be coming directly from the pipe that leaves the engine. There is a bulbous thing there before I think it goes to the resonator. Is that the catalytic converter? Because that is definitely where the sound seemed to come from.
If so, that would be covered by the 8 year/80,000 mile thing, right?

I think the service department hates it when you call and tell them what the problem is before they even know. The guy was like..well bring it in and we will check it out and if it is the cat then we will take care of it, if that's it.
While I was standing there the service guy was ordering end links for someone and was making the comment about getting rid of the clunking noise
Well, it took less than a week for Brown & Brown Chevrolet to call me and say that my CAT had come in. I took the car in the next day not only did they fix it under warranty, they gave me the option of a free oil change or a $25 gas card! I took the card as I do my own oil changes and use Mobil 1 full synthetic oil. After leaving the dealership with a much quieter HHR I headed over to Power Chevrolet with the B&B receipt in hand. Found the service manager and asked for the $52.88 back that they charged me for mis-diagnosis. He went to his manager and came back and told me they would mail me a check. Two weeks later I received the check in the mail. I guess we all know where I'll be taking my HHR if it needs anything from the dealer!
